Odenton is the closest town to Fort Meade, in western Anne Arundel County, and it has its own MARC station if you'd rather skip the drive. I'm Ryan Breeden, a Long & Foster agent who has helped buyers and sellers across central Maryland since 2005. I've sold homes in Piney Orchard, Two Rivers, Four Seasons Estates, Maple Ridge, Seven Oaks and the town center, and I've shown a lot of homes in Chapel Grove. The newest Odenton homes for sale are below. After them, I'll walk through the main communities and what buyers should know before they make an offer.
Odenton isn't one uniform place. It's a mix of large planned communities, older neighborhoods and a growing town center, and the feel changes a lot from one to the next. The three most popular communities are Piney Orchard, Chapel Grove and Two Rivers. Maple Ridge, Seven Oaks and Four Seasons Estates are the more affordable options.
Fort Meade is the biggest reason a lot of people look here. The Reece Road gate is open 24/7, and the drive from the center of Odenton to that gate runs about 6 to 16 minutes in typical traffic, according to Google Maps. It gets longer the farther out you go, so check the commute for your specific address at your real time of day. If you're moving here on orders, my PCS or military relocation page explains how I work with buyers who can't visit first.
Piney Orchard. This is the biggest name in town. Most homes were built from the early 1990s to the early 2000s, and you'll find detached homes, townhomes, condos and back-to-back style townhomes. Some of the condos are set up with a two-level unit on the upper floors and a one-level unit tucked underneath two of the upper units, so look at the layout closely. The community has multiple pools, a gym and trails throughout, and one trail connects to a Patuxent wildlife trail. There are baseball, soccer and football fields right in the community at GORC Park, which puts on a large fireworks show around the Fourth of July. Most homes carry multiple HOA fees that run roughly $125 to $150, and condos can have additional fees on top of that, so ask the association for the current amounts before you write an offer. The tradeoff is noise. There's a MARC train line and a gun range on the Fort Meade side of the community, and you can hear both from time to time. The community's own site, pineyorchard.com, has more detail.
Chapel Grove. Most homes here were built in the early 2000s. You'll find larger colonials plus a townhome section, and the community has its own neighborhood pool. The HOA runs around $75 to $100 a month. Some homes sit fairly close together, especially toward the center of the community, while some on the outer edge back to woods. The townhome section sits between the Chapel Grove single-family homes and Piney Orchard and connects to both, so a lot of people assume it's part of Piney Orchard. Check the subdivision on the listing, because the fees and amenities can differ. I've shown a lot of homes here and know it well.
Two Rivers. Two Rivers is newer, with pools, a community center, and trails and sidewalks throughout. Because it's so new, there aren't many mature trees, and it can feel a little tight since many homes sit close together on small yards. Two things to know before you fall for a house here. It's one way in and out, and it takes almost 10 minutes to get to the main road, Route 301 (also called Route 3 or Crain Highway), where most everyday amenities are. And high-voltage power lines run through the community, close to some homes, which can hurt a home's value. I'd drive in and out at rush hour and look at where the lines sit in relation to the house you're considering.
Four Seasons Estates. It's much smaller than Piney Orchard or Two Rivers, and it runs across both Odenton and Gambrills, with more of the homes on the Gambrills side. The Odenton side was built in the 1990s, with detached homes and duplexes, which are two homes side by side that look like townhomes. The detached homes can have smaller yards, but most of the duplexes have much larger yards than a typical townhome, and since only two homes share a wall, every duplex is an end unit. The HOA is lower than in other communities in the area, and there's no community pool. Many residents join Waugh Chapel Swim Club for pool access. The Gambrills side is one of the older neighborhoods, built from the late 1960s to the late 1970s, with mostly detached ranchers, colonials and some split foyers on a slab with no basement, plus some two-level duplexes. Many of those homes can need a fair amount of updating, and the Gambrills side has no HOA. The neighboring Courts of Four Seasons also covers parts of both towns, so check the town and the subdivision on the listing.
Maple Ridge. This is the oldest of the bunch, built from the mid-1960s to the mid-1970s, with no HOA and so no community pool. Many of the homes are built on a slab with no basement. Because there's no HOA, upkeep varies from street to street, so walk the block as well as the house. Residents often join Waugh Chapel Swim Club for pool access.
Seven Oaks. Most homes here were built from the early 1990s to the early 2000s. The HOA is typically under $100, and the community has a pool and tot lots. It's right across from one of Fort Meade's main entrances, so it's a short commute if you work there.
It depends on where you buy. These are Google Maps ranges to the Reece Road gate in typical traffic, checked 10-14-2026: Odenton center about 6 to 16 minutes, Piney Orchard about 10 to 22 minutes, and Two Rivers about 20 to 50 minutes (the fastest runs are 20 to 35). Seven Oaks sits across from one of Fort Meade's main entrances, so check which gate you'd actually use. Reece Road is the gate that's open around the clock, and Fort Meade's site lists the hours for the others. Drive your real route at your real time before you buy.
Start with the numbers, not the listing photos. As of mid-October 2026, the average list price for Odenton homes for sale is around $550,000, and the range runs from under $100,000 to about $1.5 million, because the area covers everything from older condos and townhomes to new single-family homes in Two Rivers.
HOA costs change a lot by community, from no HOA in Maple Ridge, to roughly $75 to $100 in Chapel Grove, to roughly $125 to $150 in much of Piney Orchard, with condos higher. I help you get the details and the right contact at the association so you can ask directly and verify. Visit any home at different times of day and listen for train and range noise near the Fort Meade side of Piney Orchard. Confirm school assignments with the Anne Arundel County Public Schools enrollment page and its school locator instead of relying on a listing, because boundaries change.
